 Blogger Event

Total Orlando enjoyed a spectacular day at Epcot on Friday 31st March 2017. We were delighted to sample some of the culinary delights offered by the outdoor kitchens, which included: Beef Brisket, Seared Scallops, Strawberries and Field Greens, Sugar Cane Shrimp Skewers, Crabless Cake, Carne Asada, Warm Cheese Strudel and the impressive looking Key Lime Pie. We would highly recommend the seared scallops served with French Green Beans, Butter Potatoes, Brown Butter Vinaigrette and Apple-wood Smoked Bacon, delicious! We were also pleasantly surprised by the flavors of the Crabless Cakes, a great offering for vegetarians.

Who on Earth is Captain Ron

This was the highlight of the day for Total Orlando! We kept hearing how we were off to meet Captain Ron, I can’t say that we were that impressed, we have never heard of Captain Ron! Oh how wrong we were? Captain Ron turned out to be probably the most adorable beagle in the whole world!

captain ron

For those of you who don’t know, Captain Ron is a member of the Disney’s sea turtle conservation team.   Captain Ron’s job is to stiff out sea turtle eggs on Disney’s beautiful Vero Beach Resort, in order for the nests to be marked and protected. He works with his trainer and owner Pepe Peruvero, using a toy reward system. Captain Ron is a bit of a legend in the dog world! It took him only 30 minutes to imprint on the odor of the sea turtles and a further 5 days to begin to respond, most dogs take several weeks to accomplish this! This has set off another huge debate in our family, we are currently at war with each other on a decision between a Beagle, German Shepard or Husky, to join our family of 5 people and 2 cats!

Highlights of the festival include:

  • Disney themed topiaries
  • Outdoor kitchens
  • Gardens, wildlife and walkways
  • Exhibits and Seminars
  • Garden Rocks
Disney Themed Topiaries

The park is filled with Disney themed topiaries, you literally will be greeted by one of these beautifully designed works of art at every turn. With over a 100 in total, there are simply too many to name, but some of the favorites include Anna and Elsa, the Seven Dwarfs, Donald Duck and of course Mickey Mouse!
