Universal Studios Hogwarts Express is on the Rails
As Universal Studios gear up for their heavily anticipated Diagon Alley area inside their Universal Studios park in Orlando, news broke this week that one of the two locomotives was lowered into place on the railroad that links the new area to the existing Hogsmeade area inside Islands of Adventure.
Due to open in the Summer of 2014, much like the movies, the Hogwarts Express will ‘magic’ passengers from platform 7½ at King’s Cross Station to Hogsmeade in Scotland.
The journey through the back stage area of Universal and Islands of Adventure promises to be much, much more than an airconditioned tour of the storage areas behind the scenes.
Instead of windows, the carriages will have huge flat screens that reveal epic moments from the Harry Potter movies along with many new experiences too.
The journey will operate with two trains, meeting at a bypass section midway and we can expect the combined loading and journey time to be under 15 minutes as Universal works hard to keep line waits as low as possible.
In reality though, we expect this whole new area to be immensely popular, driving wait times well over the 2 hour level during the initial months.
