Universal Orlando To Get Nintendo Character Theme!
An unexpected surprise from Universal was published by the Orlando Sentinel today, pointing towards a partnership between the booming theme park operator and Nintendo games!
“Universal theme parks offer incredibly popular, innovative themed family entertainment experiences based on compelling stories and characters – using powerful storytelling and innovative technology,” the companies said in a joint statement. ” Nintendo has created remarkable and imaginative worlds filled with captivating stories and beloved characters. Now, for the first time, those stories and characters will be brought to life in entirely new ways – only at Universal theme parks.”
We will bring more soon, but for now, we probably won’t here much more for quite a number of months!
In the meantime, could this be the end of the Woody Woodpecker Kidzone at Universal Orlando?
Mario, Luigi and Donkey Kong could indeed be taking over Orlando and promises to offer lots of fun opportunities!
One obvious place where Mario could end up is in the new water park that is expected to appear over the course of 2016/17 at Universal Studios.
The details are of course all up in the air for Mario and friends, but the one thing that’s for certain is that Universal aren’t messing about as they invest heavily in their Orlando theme parks!
Universal Studios has traditionally been considered as a ‘teenager upwards’ theme park, almost in complete opposition to the offerings at the Disney Parks, which typically rely less on extreme experiences.
Since areas such as the new Diagon Alley and Springfield have appeared in Universal Orlando, there appears to have been a shift in focus, as Universal successfully introduced much more immersive and ‘a touch of magic’ to their two theme parks.
Families love the immersive world of beautifully themed attractions, and it looks as though Universal are on a mission to play Disney at their very own game.
Disney in the meantime have a wide range of new adventures in the pipeline including; Disney Springs, a Frozen ride at Epcot and Avatar at Animal Kingdom.
They do appear to be slow off the mark with the massive makeover at Hollywood Studios, which has been much needed for years, and still hasn’t been officially announced!Whatever we all think though, Orlando surely is getting better and better each year!
