Toy Story Midway Mania – No Standby Access Oct 6th-9th 2014
Starting yesterday, the super popular, Toy Story Midway Mania, the only family ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is under a trial that effectively closes the standby line.
Only guests with a Fastpass+ can use the attraction during the trial period which is slated to end on October 9th 2014.
The move, which follows a similar trial to the Anna & Elsa character greet, is the latest attempt by Disney to grapple with high demand for their most popular attractions.
The move will definitely cause a stir in blogs and forums, but the reality is, that the standby line, never was a practical option for most guests heading into Hollywood Studios.
Line waits in excess of 90 minutes were evident throughout most parts of the day, unless you were brave enough to reach the park at ‘rope drop’ in the very early hours of the morning.
What’s worth noting of course, is that this trial is there for a reason, and our guess is that it will be extended indefinitely until the rumoured ‘3rd track’ is added to the attraction over the next few years.
