The first real information about the opening date for the Diagon Alley project inside Universal Orlando came from Loews Hotel Chairman Jonathon Tisch this week on CNBC.

Universal are notoriously vague with their press releases and you can’t help wonder of Mr T is currently tied to the branches of a ‘Whomping Willow’ right now as a form of punishment for his slip of tongue.

During the press interview, he also revealed that the Cabana Bay Beach Resort’s first phase would open in April 2014, with the final phase due to coincide with ‘Harry Potter 2’ in June.

Interestingly, Tisch stated that the 1,800 room Cabana Bay Beach Resort was to be the largest Hotel ever constructed in the Western World, something that skipped by us all!

The new Diagon Alley project brings a much needed spark of life to Universal Studios as the park operators seek to reap the same successes that the Islands of Adventure theme park enjoyed since its phenomenal opening in June 2010.
There’s no sign of let up for the demand in all things ‘Potter’ and the new area inside Universal Studios will not only serve guests well as entertainment, but the rides, shops, and restaurants will be accompanied by a crucial feature that has long been sought by the parks: a link between them.
The link is no other than the Hogwarts Express.  Taking Platform 9¾, Guests can travel between King’s Cross station and Hogsmeade for an adventure filled journey.  (Provided of course that you’ve got a magical Park to Park theme park ticket.
