Now that has changed and guests with valid tickets can park hop, and obtain more Fastpass+ reservations once their initial 3 slots are used up.

Disney World ceased using its paper ticket FastPass in favor of the new FastPass+ in 2013.   One of the main advantages of using the new system is that you may select and change your FastPass+ time and you may use the FastPass+ to make dining reservations and receive priority seating for the parade.  One of the big disadvantages during the trial period was that you were only allowed FastPass+ in one park per day and you are limited to 4 tickets in the Magic Kingdom or 3 in either EPCOT, Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom.

Fastpass+ is part of Disney’s MyMagic+ system.
With Smart Phone Apps and online services coffered through the My Disney Experience system, guests may purchase goods, reserve dining and obtain Fastpass+ reservations in order to access the rides and attractions without lengthy waits.

What Is FASTPASS+?

The FastPass+ system enables guests to make reservations for a particular ride this is to help reduce waiting in long lines for the most popular rides.  FastPass+ is available to all guests and is free of charge.

How to obtain a FASTPASS+

Fastpass+ can be ordered by any one of these methods;

  • All new park tickets include an RFID chip that can be used to interact with MyMagic+ Kiosks inside the theme parks.  If you have a valid ‘non RFID’ ticket, simply head to guest services and they will issue you a brand new version of your older ticket.
Simply visit one of the FastPass+ kiosk locations within the parks and follow the touch screen instructions, here you are able to link your tickets if wishing to book FastPass+ for the entire family.  You can choose which time best suits your schedule as you will be given a choice of three return times.
  • If you are staying in a Disney hotel, you will have been offered Magicbands and park tickets, so follow the guidelines and activate your My Disney Experience account online and link your tickets to be able to reserve your Fastpass+ slots up to 30 days in advance.
  • If you aren’t staying on Disney property but have valid park tickets, you can go ahead and create a My Disney Experience account and reserve Fastpass+ slots up to 30 days in advance.
  • Click here to visit the Official My Disney Experience Account Page
  • Old style paper tickets can be exchanged for the newer style RFID plastic tickets at guest relations.

How far in advance can I book FASTPASS+?

If you are staying on Disney property you may book FastPass+ 60 days prior to your visit.
Annual Pass Holders and regular park visitors may book 30 days in advance.
In all cases, guests must create a My Disney Experience account and link their park tickets in order to reserve FastPass+

May I change my FASTPASS+ Time?

Yes you may change at any point throughout your visit based on availability by either using the My Disney Experience website, the App, or a theme park Kiosk.

Do I need to be back exactly in the window given?

Yes but you do get a full hour slot so it can be anytime during that hour.  If it is a show it will be for a particular performance.

What happens if I miss my Fastpass+ window?

Currently, guests who miss a Fastpass+ slot will be allowed to rebook any other currently available Fastpass+ slot.

What happens if the ride breaks down?

If your ride fails to operate for whatever reason, you will be credited back a Fastpass+ and a message will be sent to your mobile device suggesting alternatives.

On Entering FASTPASS+ line

There are two entrances for most attractions one standby and one FastPass+ you need to enter the FastPass+ line.

Can you have more than one FASTPASS+ at any given time?

Within a day you may obtain a maximum of 3 FastPass+ reservations per day.
From April 28th 2014 guests are able to reserve an additional ‘rollover’ Fastpass+ once the initial 3 are used up.
(Additional Fastpass+ reservations are strictly limited by availability, but once each additional Fastpass+ is used, another may then be booked.)
In theory, this becomes more like the old Fastpass+ system, potentially opening up relatively unlimited Fastpass+ subject to availability.
The only place where this does slightly fall down is if one of your original 3 reserved Fastpass+ slots is for a late evening show such as Illuminations or Wishes.
Your next free slot would not become available until after 9pm!

Can I use my FastPass+ in more than one park in one day?

Once you have used your 3 Fastpass choices, you may use the ‘Rollover’ Fastpass+ system to seek out any available Fastpasses for parks that you are hopping to.

Can you use the same FASTPASS+ more than once?

No it may only be used once.

Can I obtain more than one FASTPASS+ a day for the same attraction?

Yes, subject to availability, you can obtain a second Fastpass+ for your favorite attraction.

Is FASTPASS+ for all attractions?

No just the most popular attractions which means those that have the longest lines.

What else can FASTPASS+ be used for?

It can be used to book dining reservations and also seating areas for the parades.

FASTPASS+ and Annual Pass Holders

Annual Pass holders who’ve registered for Magicbands may now use FASTPASS+ to reserve rides and attractions using the My Disney Experience App, website or in park kiosks.
Unlike resort guests, annual passholders are limited to reserving FASTPASS within a 30 day period rather than a 60 day period.  For example, if today is Jan 1st, they may only reserve any FASTPASS in January.  If they are travelling in February, they must wait until 30 days prior to their visit.
