Our helicopter flew over the demolition of Comedy Warehouse, one of the original clubs at Disney's Pleasure Island. Disney is transforming the Downtown Disney area into Disney Springs, a new entertainment complex to be completed in 2016.

In a previous Disney Springs News Update we mentioned earlier last week that the car park areas in Downtown Disney were being closed off, but now an aerial photograph of the Comedy Warehouse reveals some of the biggest signs that Disney aren’t messing about with the new Disney Springs upgrade!

Although the official name for Downtown Disney remains unchanged for the foreseeable future, big developments on unused areas of DTD will gradually make way for the new shops stores and malls of the colossal investment program that is expected to be complete in 2016.

The Comedy Warehouse opened in 1989, but closed in 2008 as Disney moved away from late Night Clubs to a more family based entertainment centre for its Downtown Disney location.

Personally, we can’t wait for Disney Springs to take shape, and look forward to the charm of the old 1900s theme for DTD.
