2 boats moored at a dock alongside the grounds of a Disney Resort hotel

Disney appear to be clearing up a few of their ‘out sourced’ operations in Walt Disney World.  The famous ‘disposal’ (haha!) of the much loved Push the talking trash can last month, was perhaps the start of an ongoing campaign by Disney to clean up some of its ancillary operations that it hands over to other businesses to run in its theme parks.

The latest casualty is the partial reduction of hire water craft in some of its resort areas within Orlando.
According to WDW News Today, due to under-performing operations, guests staying at Port Orleans Riverside, the Old Key West Resort, Saratoga Springs, and the Caribbean Beach Resort will no longer operate rent craft as of yesterday (Sunday March 2nd 2014).

With the ongoing transformation work that will eventually turn Downtown Disney into Disney Springs, the hire craft have also been removed from the ‘Village Lake’.

Along with other water craft, the Sea Raycers, also known more affectionately as Mouse Boats, Water Mice, and Water Sprites are expected to remain in operation at the following resort areas:

  • Grand Floridian
  • Polynesian, Contemporary
  • Wilderness Lodge
  • Fort Wilderness
  • Yacht & Beach Club
  • Boardwalk
  • Old Key West
  • Port Orleans French Quarter
  • Coronado Springs.

Happy sailing! and remember that it all started with a mouse on the water!
