A stylish new ‘mall’ concept will be gracing Downtown Disney Springs some time in 2016 and work looks set to begin very soon according to Orange County records for construction permits.

The huge early 1900s themed structure will grace much of the land that was once the parking lots 1,2,3 behind the Downtown Disney Marketplace area.
Once complete, the stunning air conditioned terraces and walkways of this 2 storey building will home hundreds of shops and restaurants.
Apple are one of the rumoured anchors for the new development, and we can expect to see some very well established retailers, as well as a collection of exciting artisan and specialist stores to appear when the Town Center greets the first patrons.

Parking is going to be at a premium in the short term however, as Disney plays ‘cat and mouse’ as they grab chunks of valuable parking lot space to free up for the new shops, restaurants and multi level parking lots.

At holiday times, DTD is going to be troublesome as drivers struggle to deal with huge changes to the roadway system since their previous visits.
The best advice is to still enjoy DTD in the meantime, but definitely allow an extra hour or more if you are heading in for some retail and dining therapy before 2016!
