Busch Gardens gives Timbuktu a Makeover & New Name
Falcon’s Fury will be joining Busch Gardens Tampa during the spring of 2014 as a 335ft tall, extreme drop ride. Located on the site of the stomach wrenching Sandstorm, the new attraction heralds the end of the Timbuktu themed area towards the central area of Busch Gardens Tampa.
When it opens, be prepared for some minor changes to the area that will soon be known as ‘Pantopia’, a jeweled ‘new’ land of mystery.
The theming is expected to be generally superficial, leaving much of the current infrastructure in place at this rather charming but tightly budget controlled theme park that sometimes feels as though it pays the price for being an hour’s drive away from Disney.
Jim Dean, President of Busch Gardens stated:
“Pantopia will celebrate the spirit of animals, welcome adventurers from the four corners of the earth, explore ancient lore and display fantastic architecture…… Guests will find multiple portals and doorways and learn about the legends that have drawn journeyers from around the world to Pantopia,”
Pantopia’s attractions will continue to include the Phoenix, Scorpion, Bush Flyers, Desert Runners and the Kiddie Train.
As one of our favorite parks, thanks to the wide range of extreme roller coasters and beautiful landscaped park land, we would always advise guests to make the effort to visit this park.
We just hope that the upgrade doesn’t transform a thing of beauty into a cheap looking midway style ‘fun zone’.
