The future looks very bright for Universal Studios thanks to its whopping new expansion that is set to open in the summer of 2014.  Although details are still not available for the precise opening date, June or July are the most likely months that might trigger some soft openings in the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Diagon Alley area.

This week, Florida Governor Rick Scott announced that Universal will be creating 3500 new jobs to service its attractions, stores and restaurants in its Orlando businesses.
Great news for the tourism industry that looks set to keep growing steadily as a bunch of new attractions across the Orlando area are expected to continue the healthy growth of recent years.  Florida in general has seen year on year growth in recent years and visitor numbers across the state reached 94.7 million in 2013.

2014 does face a challenge however as the soccer crazy Brazilians that have recently added to Florida’s visitor numbers are widely expected to reduce this year, as their nation hosts the 2014 World Cup.

With Disney’s new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train set to open this summer too, and major developments already under way in Downtown Disney (AKA Disney Springs), there’s plenty in the pipeline to keep those visitors interested though!

We won’t know until June what the attraction attendance figures are, but we hotly tip that Universal Studios’ modest 6th spot in the Orlando parks table will change dramatically over the coming years.
