Reunion Resort Golf View Nicklaus Course

Reunion Resort GuideWe always promise to write truthfully in all of our articles and guides.
We want you to find the magic, and not the marketing hype whenever you sit down and give up your precious moments to read about Orlando with us.
Opinions do creep in to much of our work, but we never create articles just to convince you to try certain restaurants or visit a particular theme park.
When it comes to our review of Reunion Resort, we remain steadfast in that approach, even though many of the luxury vacation homes that are listed on our site are located in this sprawling, gated golf community near Disney.
In this article, we set out to help you discover the real Reunion Resort, free from the hype.

1. Reunion Resort’s location is less than 6 miles from Disney

Perhaps the most misunderstood fact about Orlando’s main resorts, is that most, if not all, are within what could be described as a reasonable distance from the Theme Parks.
If you’ve got a rental car, you and your guests are almost guaranteed to be within 20 minutes or so from the main gates of Walt Disney World.  Some of the resorts along the southern reaches of the US 27, may turn out to be 25 minutes away, but by and large, you are safe to assume that the claims ‘close to Disney’ are indeed fair claims.
Reunion Resort’s main gates however are less than a minute’s drive away from Interstate 4 and can easily be accessed via Ramps 58 and 60.  Next Ramp north of this and you are right on the private roads of Walt Disney World’s ‘World Drive’ which leads right into Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the Resort Areas.
Most days, guests can be under the iconic ‘Disney Gateway’ in under 10 minutes.

Of course, there’s more to Orlando than WDW, and the I-4 connects all of the region’s main attraction areas, including SeaWorld, Busch Gardens and the incredible Universal Resort.

2. Orlando’s best rental homes are found on Reunion Resort

We promised that we’d be factual, and we are sticking to our word.  Reunion Resort’s vacation rentals are the best in the region.
Sure, Champions Gate, Windsor Hills and Formosa Gardens offer fabulous luxury villas and condos, but they don’t even come close to the stunning condos and estate homes of Reunion.  In terms of size, grandeur, comfort and privacy, Reunion is truly unrivalled.
The 3 PGA championship golf courses definitely helped set the tone of the resort’s development and created a luxury vacation home resort that boasts many privately owned residential and vacation rental properties at values in excess of $1m.

Reunion’s homes are mainly custom built, to individual designs, and finished and furnished to model home (show home) standards by professional interior designers.
Most homes include a private heated pool and spa, and often summer kitchens, balconies  and a shaded lanai provide the perfect outdoor living space that a Florida home really deserves.

The cool, marble and travertine floors and sumptuous fabrics, create a cosy, yet refreshing environment after a long hot day in the theme parks, and the entertainments packages of the larger luxury estate homes on Reunion often include cinema rooms, games rooms, and from time to time, even a bowling alley!

3. Reunion Resort’s Water Park

Reunion’s five acre water park has been the much sought after amenity of the luxury golf community just outside of Disney.
With a fairly large family water slide, a kid’s water adventure play area, zero entry pool, lazy river and an excellent poolside bar and food service, the water park deserves to be popular.
At times it can occasionally get busy during peak holiday periods, while at others, you can probably enjoy much of the water park to yourselves give or take a few other families.
From time to time, you may read on travel forums about difficulty in getting access to the water park, if you are staying in a privately owned and managed vacation home.
The reality is however, that if vacationers make enquires when they reserve their rental home, they can ask if that individual property is part of the membership program.
If it is, you are in luck, as you are typically able to reserve a day per week at the water park or golf courses during your stay.   There’s a small fee, but it is worth it.
If you don’t confirm the membership before you book, there’s always a chance of disappointment, and these tend to be the stories that you read about on tripadvisor and other review sites.
Check the home’s water park access rights first, before booking and you will be fine!

If however, you do choose to stay in a home that does not include Reunion Resort membership, all is not lost as the water parks in the Orlando area are to be fair, quite literally mind blowing!  Reunion’s water park is great, but don’t get too hung up on it!

4. Reunion Resort’s 10 luxurious resort pools

If you can’t get access to the water park, or you want to cool off in peace, the luxurious resort pools offer a peaceful setting for you and your guests on an unlimited basis.
From dawn until dusk, these ornate, interesting and tranquil havens are yours to use throughout your stay without charge.
The largest resort pool at Seven Eagles, includes a pool bar and sports amenities with a fabulous selection of very well prepared bar meals and cocktails.

5. Not one but three PGA Golf Courses by Watson, Nicklaus and Palmer

Reunion’s majestic and picturesque golf courses truly define the essence of this luxurious resort.
Not only do guests adore the rolling landscaping that meanders throughout the 2,226 acres of natural oak woodland, but the courses form the backbone of the charming vacation homes of the gated community.
Challenging enough to test your ability, yet forgiving enough to be playable and enjoyable by higher handicap players, the 3 PGA courses are a delight for all to make the best use of their golf time in Orlando.
Deciding which is the hardest, or for that matter, the easiest, is no simple task, as each offers a unique characteristic to challenge players at every level.  If however, we had to choose, we’d probably go for the Palmer course if we wanted a less challenging round, but it’s a truly marginal thing!  We suggest playing them all and deciding yourselves!
Deciding which is the toughest course at Reunion is a simpler matter, as the Nicklaus course is generally the undisputed champion when golfers are looking for a challenge.
In our opinion, it also offers the most scenic views, as it mixes its way around the rolling fairways of Reunion’s West side, including the homes of Reunion’s Murifield Loop, often considered to be the ‘jewel in the crown’ of the Reunion Resort rentals.

6. The Restaurants at Reunion Resort

Whatever you think about resort food, we advise you to forget it.
Reunion’s dining options are simply way above the standards you might be expecting.  Think about the finest 5 star hotels in a major city and you will be pleased to know that Reunion delivers no less.
With two gourmet restaurants, a delicious upscale clubhouse menu and a gorgeous sushi bar on site, food lovers will not be disappointed by the skills of Reunion’s culinary team.
Even the pool side dining service at the Seven Eagles Cove and Water park will leave many luxury restaurants standing.
Reunion’s food options are a little pricier than normal, but the quality is without doubt, worth paying for.

7. The Restaurants near Reunion Resort

If you’d like to venture beyond the fabulous on site restaurants at Reunion Resort, you will be delighted to know that there’s an amazing selection of  high quality family friendly dining spots just a few miles north of reunion, along the Formosa Gardens area of the 192.
With everything from the traditional, wholesome food of the Cracker Barrel, to all of the familiar chains and popular eateries from across the USA.
Our favorite in Formosa is of course the Outback Steakhouse!
If you don’t mind driving 10 minutes further, down the US27, Manny’s Chophouse is a legendary all American steakhouse just waiting for your order.

8. A peaceful oasis in the heart of Orlando’s popular tourism centre

If Reunion Resort is close to all of the dining areas and theme parks, it’s going to be busy right?
Actually, no.  The main vacation rental communities around the vast Walt Disney World resort enjoy wide open spaces and peaceful and expansive communities set amongst the former orange groves just south of the busy and thriving 192 areas of Kissimmee and Davenport.  As you leave the 192, the pace really slows as you drive along the fabulous roads that link the resort communities to Walt Disney World and the major routes.

Once past the gates of the Resort, the pace slows even more to a tranquil hush of the nature reserve environment that surrounds much of the gold community resort.
At your luxury home’s poolside, you could be literally anywhere, with just the sound of the trickling spa and the birdsong high above the peaceful golf courses to ‘disturb your peace’.  Reunion is really that restful.

9. A place for fun, relaxation and quality family time!

Of course you came for the theme parks.
But newcomers to Reunion Resort also re-discover themselves on vacation.  It’s no cliche, as many of our families comment that they actually spent more time by the pool than they ever imagined they would.  Sure, the communal resort pools, water park, golf courses and tennis facilities are truly world class, but you can’t beat a little home made fun with the family to make a memorable vacation.
The name ‘Reunion’ was no mistake, it brings everyone closer together as you will find out on your next luxury vacation!

10. A luxurious Reunion Resort vacation home can save you money!

As you browse through our Reunion Resort rentals collection, you might think that our homes are pricier than your budget.  We do love pointing out however, that if you stay at a fabulous five bedroom luxury home, you can probably take family and friends along to bring the costs right down to around $50 per person or less during low season.
At rates like that, you are going to find it hard to find comfortable budget accommodation in the main tourist areas for that.
Sure the ticket prices look high, but with many homes able to offer 10 guests a luxury place to stay, we think you will never regret a stay on Reunion Resort!
